Careers at TingoTrip

A small team building travel software for India. Honest work, real ownership, and problems that touch millions of journeys.

We are a small team, and that is the most important thing to know before you read any further. There is no layer between you and the work. If you join, the thing you build goes in front of travellers within weeks, and you will see exactly how it performed.

How we work

We optimise for clarity over ceremony. There are few meetings, decisions are written down, and the person closest to a problem usually decides how to solve it. You will be trusted with real scope early, and you will also be expected to say when something is not working.

  • Small teams, short feedback loops, and code that ships in days rather than quarters.
  • Written thinking. A short document before a big change saves a fortnight of rework.
  • Direct feedback, given kindly and early, in both directions.
  • Real ownership. You will not have to ask three people for permission to fix something obviously broken.

We care about craft. Travel software touches people on the worst day of their trip as often as the best, so the details are not cosmetic. A clear refund message, a page that loads on a weak signal, an error that explains itself — these are the difference between a customer who trusts us and one who does not.

What we look for

We hire for judgement and curiosity more than for a list of technologies. If you can reason clearly about a problem, write well enough to explain your reasoning, and care about the person on the other side of the screen, we can work with almost any background.

Specifically, we pay attention to:

  • Evidence that you finish things. A side project that shipped beats a long list of ones that did not.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. Early-stage problems rarely arrive with a specification attached.
  • Care for the user, expressed in specifics rather than slogans.
  • Honesty about what you do not know. It is the fastest way to learn, and we notice.

The kinds of roles we open

Our needs shift with what we are building, but roles tend to fall into a few families. Engineering covers the booking platform, supplier integrations, payments and the customer-facing site. Operations covers supplier relationships, fare and inventory quality, and the day-to-day of keeping bookings fulfilled. Customer support handles travellers directly and is, in our view, one of the most product-shaping roles in the company. Holiday curation is for people who genuinely know a region and can build a route worth paying for. Design and content cover how the product looks, reads and explains itself.

How hiring works

We try to keep it short and respectful of your time. A first conversation to understand what you want, a practical exercise close to real work rather than a puzzle, a conversation with the people you would work alongside, and a decision. We aim to tell you either way, and we will tell you why.

We do not ask for free work. If an exercise takes more than a few hours, we pay for it.

Working here

We are a growing company, not a large one, so we are honest about what that means. You will have unusual influence and a wider remit than a bigger employer would give you. You will also sometimes do work that is outside your title because it needs doing. If that trade sounds good, we will probably get along.

How to apply

Write to us through the Help Centre with the role you are interested in, or simply tell us what you would like to work on and why. Attach whatever best shows your work — a CV, a portfolio, a repository, a piece of writing. A few honest paragraphs about a problem you solved will get our attention faster than a polished template.

We read everything that comes in.
